Followed instructions to reformat new WD 4tb elements for iMac- not working

Hi All, I’m sure this is a common thing but can’t find a question on it.
I’ve just received my new elements hard drive and watched several videos and read the instructions on WD website about how to reformat it for my Mac which is updated to High Sierra 10.13.1 .

I followed the instructions and used Disk Utilities to erase and selected Mac Os extended (Journaled) and then clicked Erase.
It started then an error message came up saying ‘Erase process has failed’ and now the name has changed to disk4s1 and in the list of hard drives, and it’s greyed out.
The info section below shows it’s Not Mounted. capacity: 4TB. Available: Zero KB. Owners: Disabled. plus a couple of other bits.

Have i done something wrong? Any advice is much appreciated.
