I just attempted to copy some files onto my WDMycloud using through Windows Explorer (I have my shares mapped as Network drives - the shares are set as public access).
When I try to copy files or create folders I’m getting a ‘You need permission to peform this action’ error.
This occurs for some folders within the share but not for others. I can’t see any pattern on which folders I can/cannot write too.
This has never been a problem before so I’m assuming its something to do with the firmware upgrade.
WD seem to have a track record of stuffing things up after firmware upgrades.
Last year I threw away my WD TV Live after it was experiencing problems overheating and crashing and replaced it with a new one.
Shortly afterwards I discovered that there was nothing wrong with my previous unit I had binned - it was just a known problem with the latest firmware!
Looks like they’ve done it again with the WD MyCloud.
Please fix as a priority!
I’ve gave up on the idea of ever buying another WD product after my previous experience, but if you don’t sort out this problem and your ongoing lack of properly testing firmware upgrades, I suspect you may lose other customers too!
