I have a MyCloudHome from four years ago which I recently took back to recover the old files.
In the past I used to mount it locally in my windows computer so it appeared as a regular folder, but I see that is not possible anymore. I have been following the instructions and advice from the forum and I was able to load it as a Network drive. Inside, I see it has two folders, Public and TimeMachineBackup, both of which are empty.
At the same time, the web interface is still working and is showing me all my old files.
I would like to dump the whole contents to my computer (several GBs of data in hundreds of files across many directories) so using the web interface to download the files one by one is not an option. How can I make the web-interface files appear in the Public directory in the network drive?
The webapp allows the owner of the My Cloud Home (MCH) to backup the entire private space onto a USB storage, usually that is the cheapest form of backup and is the recommended solution.
The owner and user files seen in the web-interface are PRIVATE USER FILES, so they will never be seen in the PUBLIC SPACE.
The owner and authorized users can each be provisioned with their private space folder to be used locally, this is called ‘Enable Local Access’. This allows password protection to their respective private folders when used locally from their desktops.
This link and video will show a MCH owner how this is done:
