Hello, I have a nas EX 4100 and I have a message that the fan is not working. I ordered a replacement fan which I installed and I still have the same message. Do you know how to solve this problem Thanks

I bought a brand new My Cloud Ex2 Ultra NAS for use at home. It works fine and the fan is usually on with no issue and when I check system health it shows a working fan and it is physically working.
However, I keep getting fan not working errors in the system Dash Board. Is this a software Issue? They seem to come at around the same time each day around sun set. Is it some thing I should be worried about?

Hi all,
I’ve replaced factory fan on my WD My Cloud EX2 Ultra with Noctua NF-A4x10 FLX fan.
All works great, fan is very very silent, temperature keeps as before (if not better) but, what happens now, is that time to time (every other day or so) I am getting “Fan not working” error notification.
I suspect there is some kind of monitoring for the fan RPM, in case of Noctua fan the RPM is about 2200 which might be lower than the original.
The alert seems to be triggered right after NAS wakes u…
My EX2 ULTRA’s fan is running perfectly, but it gives critical error 20 which is fan is not running error.
I reset the device,
returned to factory settings,
disassambled the battery for a while (while unplugged do dc source)
tried another 3 pin fans
nothing changed,
what should i do ?
thank you
I had this unit maybe 6 months when the fan error came up. Dismantled, cleaned the fan, and it’s been fine for almost 2yrs now… but fan error again.
I saw a (rather useless) YouTube video about the stock fan vs a Noctua NF-A4x10… no info, not in the unit, just ran one fan on the desk, then the other.
Anyways… does the Noctua NF-A4x10 fan fit this unit and work? Does it run about the same or maybe a bit better?
Should I do what others do instead and mount a USB powered 120mm fan on top instead…
An error message says “fan not working”. On the back of the outer case are three screws - one each side and one at the top. The cover is still on firmly after I take them out. Obviously there are other steps. Before I ruin this thing does anyone know how to remove thecase s i can get at the fan? Thanks.
