I purchased and set up my WD MyCloud drive a couple of weeks ago and copied my project folders over to it (roughly 1.5TB of files). The shares all work and they are accessible over the internet, initial access to the drive is fine.
The problem is over 2/3 of the folders in the share cannot be accessed at all. They immediately return an error:
“N:\foldername\ is not accessible. The parameter is incorrect”
The other 1/3 of the folders are accessible just fine. I performed an exhaustive search of these forums and on the internet with no results other than to try running a ChkDsk on the drive.
The folder names are all web domains (IE, domain.com, domain.org, etc) and contain no special characters. The files within the folders also do not contain special characters other than underscores _ or dashes -. There is no apparent pattern or common factor between the folders erroring out and the ones working. It is completely random.
I ran both a quick and full Systems Diagnostic test on the drive in the “settings” section of the UI. Both did not return any errors.
Other clues:
-When I right-click on an erroring folder and look at its properties, it shows the size as 0 bytes. It appears to be a file system error/corruption, but the system dignostic check isn’t catching it nor fixing it.
-When I try to delete an erroring folder, nothing happens - it just stays there.
-When I try to rename an erroring folder or move it to another folder, I get the error “the file (foldername) is too large for the destination system”
Is there a solution to this issue? Right now the drive is completely unusable, and I’m ready to return it.
