My DS6100 does not start. Its stuck at STARTUP…
INITIALIZING…
The leds in the four bays for HDDs keep flashing and tge fan keeps starting and stopping.
Here are the things I tried.
Talked to WD support and they said its out of warranty and asked me to leave the machine for a day or try to reset to factory default.
Tried to do factory reset with recovery files in an USB falsh drive and hokding the reset button while turning on the machine. The result is the same as above.
Removed the CMOS battery abd tried restarting the result same as in 1.
Tried starting taking out the the boot drives. Result same as 1.
Tried swapping boot drives. Resuly same as 1.
Any chance I can recover from here ?
Any thing else I can try?
I had left the machine running and there were unplanned/announced power outages from PG&E today when the power came back, the machine booted into EFI shell.
This is good progress.
I need to take it from here and recover.
Any Ideas how I should proceeed?
From the EFI shell, I accessed the usb flash drive and booted into the OS by executing the Boot.efi file from the shell and then fixing the bootrec of the OS.
I still have an issue where in the restart of the OS takes a longer to start.
Also, if I have the DATA disks in the bay, it takes even longer. I need to solve this issue.
