Do I need SMB V2 for my cloud?

Do I need SMB v2 in order for my cloud to work? I recently tried attaching a usb drive to my router but the pc couldn’t find it which I think was due to the router not being SMB v2, all I could see in the router setting was for samba so not sure.

As the mycloud plugs in via ethernet would I still have this same issue if my router’s smb v1?

@ranaredlight Is the usb drive a WD drive? What router do you have?

Thanks, but no way Im enabling smb1 in windows. My modem/router obviously doesn’t support smbv2, no firmware update for it either. No, the usb drive isn’t a wd drive.
