Disable Cloud Access

I want to disable the cloud access. However, after doing this through the Dashboard, after a certain period of time, the cloud access becomes reactivated.

How can i achieve a permanent disabled cloud access?

Yeah. . . . .been through this one.

At some point. . . .if you want to keep MyCloud devices off the internet, you simply have to block external ports to the device at the router level.

These devices really, really want to communicate with WD servers. Turning off access from the “cloud access” portion of the Settings tab doesn’t quite seem to get the job done.

If I want to boot external “off network” users off the NAS, I had to actually had to go to the “cloud access tab” and remove “cloud devices” from each user. That boots people off permanently until you set up access fresh for the devices.

That‘s a solution. However, i can not understand that although i paid a lot of money, and WD is not able (or willing) to fix this bug.
There must be a background procedure which somehow reactivates this „cloud access“.

Anyway, could provide me the ports to be blocked?

Sometimes that happens. It’s frustrating. Are you rebooting or restarting the My Cloud?

One thing I’v found on my v4.x single bay My Cloud is I have to turn off remote access in the Dashboard > Settings and actually watch to ensure the option is turned off. Sometimes have to wait a minute or more or have to hit the off button a second time to get the setting to stick.

Not sure which services are used to run cloud access but one could try using SSH to disable the services used for remote access. Some service startup scripts are listed here:

One can disable some or many of these startup scripts in the “user-start” file. Use the forum search feature (magnifying glass icon upper right) to see many past discussions, usually revolving around the sleep issue, on disabling services using the user-start file.

Edit to add: Or just block all internet traffic (outbound/inbound) to the My Cloud at the router.
