I have a My Passport (WDBABM7500ABK, 750Gb/USB 2.0), about 6 months old, that suddenly has failed.
When plugged in, the LED lights up (solidly for about a minute, then to an abnormal steady flash). However, there is no spinning of the hard drive, and of course no recognition by the computer. There was never any unusual noises, no prior issues, so it seems not the typical total failure? It does this on several different computers.
Any suggestions (other than trying a new USB cable)?
If this is purely some sort of internal electrical failure, is the data itself recoverable?
Same here. Everything was working perfectly until last night. Now, when I plug my 750gb My Passport SE 750gb in to any computer, it makes a “Wurrr-Click Wurrr-Click” with the LED solid then after a few seconds, the LED blinks and I can’t get any access to the files. Sometimes, after I unplug it and plug it back in, there is absolutely no spinning at all.
I tried putting it in a ziplock bag and putting it in the freezer but nothing.
The Cable seems to be fine. I’ve only had this a few weeks and until last night, it was working perfectly. I never took it out of the house, just from the living room laptop to the bedroom desktop and back.
I’m getting scared because I have a LOT of stuff on the drive and I NEED IT!
