The drive is ok - I damaged the usb port so I have opened the case and taken the drive out and plugged the eSata onto my PC as an internal drive BUT I can see it in the dis managment in admin tools BUT it will not show in the My Computer .IN Disk manager it is not allocated a device / drive number nor a away of foing this.
Is the drive encrypted ??
I need to get some data off it.

If it’s a drive that came with Smartware it is hardware encrypted whether you use Smartware or not. Check the posts by fzabkar or send him a PM he is the most knowledgable about this area. You might take the board with the damaged port and get another port soldered on and see if that works.
