First of all, sorry if this is a dumb question, but I’m new to all this. I have a mycloud at home for my movies and family pictures, but it’s almost full so I’m thinking about getting a wd easystore 10 TB to back this up and for additional storage. Will I be able to connect this directly to the mycloud (USB) or is a computer required. I’m asking because my storage device is connected directly to my home router. No computer is located near that.
Yes you can connect a USB drive to the My Cloud USB port. You may want to read the My Cloud User Manual (https://support.wdc.com/product.aspx?ID=904) which has a chapter (see Chapter 12 Connecting a USB Hard Drive) covering how to use a USB drive with the My Cloud.
Note that when you connect a USB hard drive it will show up and be treated as a single Share. And the USB drive has to be in a format supported by the My Cloud.
