Custom OS - HW Accel

So, the past weekend i looked into putting a custom FW on my 4Tb WDMCH.
But it seems like no matter what you do you can’t get Plex HW Accel/Transcoding working on Linux.
Not with the GPL-MCH.6.6.1 Driver, not with drives for BPI-W2 or anything.
At least up until last year and this i can’t find anyone that actually tried recently.

When i looked up the hw stuff on Plex i noticed that you usually can’t use hw-accel unless you got Plex Pass, but you can use it on theese nas’es in particular, so i suppose they use the s/n to grant is some privileges or something, I dunno if that still works licensing wise after you install a custom os…Of if the problem lies in linux itself and not in realteks non-existant documentation, unless you buy chip in bulk.
Starting the original OS in a Vm just to run Plex seems like a hassle. And someone must have tought of that allready.

I Use it as a NAS and for in-home Plex usage.
I turned Hw accel off in Plex to see if i really need that. Since i mainly watch h264/h265 in 4p or 1080p.
Then i tried to transcode from 4k-> 1080p/12mbit and got an error, so did everything under it. But since i got 250mbit full duplex i suppose that my serverend never would be the problem if i would try to watch it from somwhere else. Playback seems to work just fine if i watch it in the original quality, in both 1080p and 4k.

I just want the thing to work like it should… I hate having to use a private share to use Plex, the private one doesn’t show for my GF so we need to sent everything trough my PC to get it in the right folder.
Can you change the Plex config so you can move the folder to the public share?
