Can you please let me know how I can copy my old MyCloud data (old device) to a newly bought MyCloud Mirror 2Gen device. I have not connected the new device (MyCloud Mirror 2Gen) yet to the computer since I have just bought it.
If you could let me know step by step this would help me a lot in properly setting the new one up! FYI after copy the data from the old device I will remove it from the network/computer. Thank you for helping me!
You copy the data from one device to the other just like copying anything else on the local network. Using Windows File Explorer, Mac Finder. Or you can use SSH to access the older My Cloud and issue a copy or rsync command (search this subforum for information on how to use SSH to issue a copy command). Or you can use an external USB hard drive attached to the My Cloud to move the data by copying to the external USB hard drive.
You can have both My Cloud devices on the local network at the same time, just give them unique names in the Dashboard Settings section.
If you have removed the hard drive from the older My Cloud device for what ever reason you can use Linux (or a Linux boot disc like Ubuntu Live CD) to access the My Cloud hard drive once removed from the My Cloud enclosure and attached to a computer using a USB enclosure or SATA cables.
