Confused about WD Backup

My apologies but everything confuses me.
I plan to purchase 2 WD My Passport Ultra drives to use WD Backup on a win 7 laptop and a win 10 desktop. Both computers are for Home use and have very minor file changes so I don’t think it is worthwhile to do File Backups.

  1. I want to do a Disk Image on each computer for disaster recovery since both Hard Drives are getting old (like me).
  2. Once I do the Disk Image can I use Incremental Backups to the Disk Image, is this possible?
    Thanks from the Dummy.

WD Backup does not do system images at the time of this post. Incremental backups handled by WD Backup are file backups. You would need a completely different application in order to meet your needs.

A disk image backup will be kept separately from files copied by WD Backup since the application will ignore anything that was added to your WD Passport by means other than WD Backup.

WD provides a free version of Acronis True Image which is recognized as one of the top disk imaging utilities available. You have to have at least one WD drive to use it. I have not yet used the WD version. But the full version did provide for incremental image backups. The WD version is available here: Software and Firmware Downloads | WD Support
