Can't transfer large files from EX4100 to iMac over network, file error "Can't be read or written"

Been using the EX4100 for a couple of months now. Plenty of unsatisfactory issues, but most have been resolved through changes in habit.

However, now that I need to free up space and want to backup to long term storage, I find I can’t. Need to offload about 13TB of data, but when I try to via macOS Finder, twice in a row I get an error

The Finder can’t complete the operation because some data in “xxxfilename” can’t be read or written

Elsewhere, I am reading that the solution is to basically erase the EX4100, sell it, and buy a different solution. That is unacceptable.

Can anyone tell me why this error is happening, how I can offload these files to a USB 3 drive for long term storage? I’ve read that one can attach a drive to the EX4100 directly, but that that doesn’t solve this issue, either.

Hello,

Please be informed that Files larger than 5 GB cannot be uploaded using the My Cloud OS 5 web app.
Please refer to the following instructions mentioned in the given below KBA article to transfer files larger than 5GB to your My Cloud OS 5 device. (My Cloud OS 5: Error Uploading Large Files in Web App)

You’ve misunderstood my problem. I am not using the app, just the NAS on my network.

The problem I have is that I cannot move files off of my NAS to my computer, although I was able to move them from the computer to the NAS. I also find I cannot dupe files on the NAS, I instead have to move smaller files that I want to dupe to my computer and then back to the NAS

This feels like some kind of configuration error, but I can’t determine what it might be
