Can't back up iPhoto library to WD My Book 4TB

Hey guys,

I just bought a new 4 TB My Book to backup my music, movies and music from my Macbook Pro (not trying to back up anything else or with Time Machine).  I’m currently running Mavericks OS and just updated the My Book software (1.3.7) from the WD firmware update webpage but I’m still not able to drag and drop my iPhoto library into the external HD.  Do I need to reformat the drive?  What am I doing wrong here?

Welcome to the Community.

By default, the WD My Book is formatted NTFS for Windows use. You’ll have to format it to use it with a Mac-based system:

After the hard drive is formatted, export your Library/Pictures to your desktop or into a regular folder, and from there to your WD My Book.
