Can't ad/delete files to new Passport Ultra

Hi,

I have just bought a new My Passport Ultra 2TB. It is recognised etc by my Mac, but I can’t add or delete anything to it.

I have also installed the WD_Drive_Manager_Installer_3_1_0_1x.zip file as i am using Mavericks. I have also restarted, but no change.

I have also tried it on another laptop as well.

Any ideas?

Hello,

The Passport Ultra comes ready to be use on Windows computer formatted on NTFS and Mac will see the drive as read only and that’s why you are able to see the unit but not able copy or delete files from it.

You will need to reformat the drive to make it compatible with Mac.

Same problem. My year-old 2TB WD Passport Ultra was reformatted to FAT and worked fine on my ancient MacBook running Snow Leopard

I plugged it into my new 15-inch MacBook Pro running OSX 10.9.4 and now it will not copy or delete files from the drive, i.e., it behaveas as is formatted for Windows as it would straight out of the box.

Any ideas

This happened to me as well. Fresh out of the box, we could not add any files using a MacBook Pro. We reformatted using this link and it worked:

I tried all 3 options for creating a partition on the WD drive that are listed on that link for MAC and I get an error on all of them. 

Partition failed with the error

Couldn’t unmount disc

Any ideas what it wants?
