Can't access new My Cloud

I have a similar problem of access but I can’t acces the dashboard either by typing the ip address or  http://wdmycloudex4.local in my browser, I just get a 403 - Forbidden error, which I think means it can see the server but it doesnt have permisson to access the data.

I can connect to the drives through my finder

Incidently my ip address doesnt start with 192.164.   it starts with 169.254.  could this be causing the problem and how can I manualy set the ip of the device since I dont have access to the dashboard?

Thanks in advance.

Hi everyone.

My problem was solved. My problem was that I could acess the NAS through the dashboard normally, but couldn’t acess the NAS in windows explorer, IP not found. So I was not able to copy files or anything.

It turned out to be something in the network’s windows that wasn’t working correctly. I formated the SSD, and reinstalled windows 7. Now it works perfectly.

I have now managed to fix my problem which was due to the fact that the office was running a dual network and the box had automatically assigned itself on the 169.254.xx.xx network and not 192.164.xx.xx which my computer was manually assigned to.

To solve the problem I had to make my computer gain access to 169.254.xx.xx network which gave me have access to the MY Cloud control panel, I then changed the WD box’s IP manually to 192.164.xx.xx then set my computer back to it’s original IP address.

Hope this helps.

After setup I was able to access MyCloud from within my home and wireless network.  My wife’s computer and both our phones and ipads were also able to access on the wifi from within the house.  My network is a Xfinity network using an Arris TG862G wifi modem.  After some reading on this forum and some additional hints;

  1. Turned off the “sleep” mode on the MyCloud
  2. Set port forwarding on the Arris modem to 8080 and 8443 to insure that those ports were open.
  3. Checked MyCloud Dashboard to insure that that the Internet Access was still shown and that the ports 8080 and 8443 were not indicated as problematic.

This solved the access problem and I can know access remotely and within the house.

It finally worked!!!

I was in complete frustration when I opened mine up and started to set it up. Got the same error messages everyone above got. You would not believe what happened. I got frustrated and went to bed. 9 hours later I woke up and just re-opened the set up application on my computer and it connected. Just like that. Did it on my phone too. BOOM. I would recommend exactly what happened for me. Leave it on (blue light solid) overnight and then close out the setup application completely. Then the next morning re open the setup application, click getting started, click next and it should be all good from there!!!

Thanks! Your (non-)method worked for me as well. I got irate and moved on to other tasks. Came back ~36 hours later, and everything went smoothly. Now, to address the heat issue with this device. You could darn near fry an egg on it!

OK, I figured out my issue. I have a My Cloud Mirror dual bay with 4tb HD in each. 2 days ago I couldn’t access my dashboard. The problem with MY issue is somehow the IP address changed itself. It was 10.0.0.23 and somehow changed to 10.0.0.12 I figured it out when I clicked on the setup and was going to redo the setup and a window came up with a picture of my device and below it had the S/N (serial number) and IP number which had changed. I still don’t know how or why it changed but that’s why I could not get access to my dashboard. Changing the IP address was easy, just right click the “my cloud dashboard” icon on your desktop and click on properties, then type in the new one, and apply. I hope this help someone.

My computer is Windows 7 64bit

Not that simple. Doesn’t work for me and sure seems to be a big problem for a lot of Windows 7 users.

Mine notices the Cloud drive, it is just when I try to access it in Windows Explorer a box pops up that says Network Error up top but says I do not have permissions to access the drive.

I have tried everything that everyone has suggested in various forms from here to the end of the internet and still no one can solve this problem and I bet, most likely, if someone suggests something it will be something I have already tried so I guess I will have to put on my own thinkng cap and figure this one out.

I know it is a problem with Windows 7 because my other PC and Laptop have Windows 8.1 and they work fine.

I do not have any passwords or special credentials set up with the My Cloud or with my Win7 system.

It is just Microsoft thinking they have to have control over everyones Operating System. haha

Closing this thread since this was fixed in the latest firmware update.
