I’m trying to setup the My Cloud desktop item and cannot find the network device despite having both the My Cloud on with solid blue light and my router is on and operational. Both are connected via ethernet cable.
Very strange as I have managed to set it up online using the absolutely rubbish card (no user manual) using the my cloud.com/setup site. I can access the dashboard fine online, but cannot see it on my Finder nor can I see the device or setup the desktop icon on my Mac.
Someone please explain what the heck is going on as I’ve been trying to get it working for weeks!!
Yes I have reset the unit a few times and still does not show up on my finder on my Mac nor can I install the desktop application. It should simply scan and find my My Cloud thus it does not as has been the case with quite a few other folk. What else can I do as this is very frustrating!
I am having the same problem. I just bought this product and I don’t see any customer service support or phone # to call in the US. I think I’m going to return this back to the retailer. Clearly their product has all kinds of issues with MACs and they don’t bother to help their clients…
See the “Contact WD” link at the bottom of this very web page. Then select “Contact Us” upper right from the contact page. Or one can Google (perform an internet search) for “WD Support Contact”. Below are the contact numbers for the United States from the WD contact page.
What Mac OS are you running? How is your local network configured, is your Mac connected via WiFi or Ethernet to the same router as the My Cloud? Can you access the My Cloud using the My Cloud’s IP Address? Do you have any firewall or security software enabled on the Mac that could be blocking access to the My Cloud? If running El Capitan have you searched the subforums for other threads that discuss various issues with that OS? Do other computers/devices have the same access problems?
I’m running OS Sierra. It is connected via WiFi to the network, would attempting to try via an ethernet cable to either the router or the WB unit itself work? Yes via the local cloud I can access the components of the WB Cloud device, that seems to work fine. Just cannot see it on my Finder or install the desktop icon on my Mac as the device cannot be found. No there is no firewall enabled. And only this device accesses the unit.
