Cannot See All Computers

Now and then I turn on my TV, audio receiver, and the WDTV LIve! unit, and it cannot see all the computers on my network. The computer where I store my DLd content is on, it can ping the WDTV LIve!, and they are both hard-wire connected to the same switch. All  the time it can see the printer and sometimes it can see other computers,

This problem comes up from time to time and it just goes away after I switch things off and on, fart around in the system, or just wait. It has an uncanny ability to strike when I have visitors or if I’ve just been telling someone how wonderful the WDTV Live! is.

Have any of you experienced this? Any thoughts on what might be happening?

I would love to know how I can even attempt to stream from my computer to my WD TV LIVE Plus.      I have connected the WDTV to the router that is connected to the computer.   I can see the computer.   I click on the computers name, and its asking me for a login and pasword.      I don’t have any sort of login/password on my computer, so I don’t even know where to begin to figure out where I need to set one up at ???

Any help??

Just use the defaults that come up. If that doesn’t work, make sure windows live essentials isn’t installed.

Check out the tutorials at  http://www.wdtvlive.com/tutorials for some ideas. Pretty good source, I found. It doesn’t talk about Win7 but you can figure it out from the Vista instructions.

I am with you friend. Sometimes the WDLive see’s all the computers and media servers and all is well. But today (Thanksgiving) we sat down to watch a movie and it wouldn’t recognize one of my computers. Like you, I fart around with it and get everything working, Other times it includes rebooting computers, unhooking cables including the power cable. Just tonight it recognized just one computer of three and after messing with it for a hour, it now recognizes the other two, but not the original one. I have been using the original firmware and for the most part it has worked pretty good. This is more of late where it has been switching off and on to what it recognizes. Definitely makes you scratch your head.

Have you had a response  on finding all computers?  I can find the deskstop but not the laptop.  I have followed the same procedures on both units.
