Cannot complete Firmware update as WD app cannot see the drive

The drive is available on the Mac.

There is no other USB device plugged in.

The drive is mapped to the desktop and I can access it.

The WD app simply refuses to see the drive.

How can I get past this in order to update my drive?

My drive is a WD MyPassport Wireless Pro

You might have to use the MPW webpage to do the firmware update.
I believed your MPW webpage is 192.168.60.1

This does not work. I have the software on my Mac but the WD app still does not see the drive and the 198. address etc does not work either.

It’s odd as I am able to access the files on the drive and write to it.

I am still unable to update my drive - any ideas?
