Hello,
I have the good old WDTV Live Steaming and it won’t access my file shares on Linux Mint 20.1.
Whenever I try to access my file shares, the following error message appears:
“Unable to connect to selected source - please make sure the selected source is active and available for sharing”
Does that mean the WDTV Live Streaming doesn’t support SMB2.0 and up?
Thanks!
Correct, the WDTV LIve Streaming (and all WDTV Media Players) only support SMB1.0

BUT — if you want to take the security risk you can install/activate SMB in Windows 10

Bummer. I will have to look for a workaround then.
@flhthemi: What kind of security risks does SMB1 bring to the table?
I would suggest as a 'workaround" to stop using an obsolete media player with obsolete smb protocols.
Buy a new Media New Player that supports SMB2.0 and SMB3.0 and all the latest Video and Audio formats and receives updates and support.
If you Google it, there’s heaps of articles … below is just one of them.
Read up on it…I use it no problems here with anything.
