Can JBOD drives be moved to an identical enclosure (WDBFBE0200JBK) previously configured as RAID 1?

Hello,

I need a very specific confirmation regarding the replacement of a WD My Book Duo enclosure.

I currently have a WD My Book Duo WDBFBE0200JBK-00 (20 TB) containing two 10 TB hard drives.

My current configuration is Individual Drives / JBOD, NOT RAID 0 and NOT RAID 1.

Windows therefore sees two separate drive letters, and each drive contains different data. Both drives are currently working and contain important data that I absolutely cannot lose.

I have found another exactly identical WDBFBE0200JBK-00 enclosure. However, the seller told me that the two drives originally installed in this replacement enclosure were configured as RAID 1.

My question is very specific:

If I remove the two drives from my current WDBFBE0200JBK-00 (configured as Individual Drives / JBOD) and install them, in the exact same bay order, into another WDBFBE0200JBK-00 enclosure that was previously used with two RAID 1 drives, will the replacement enclosure automatically recognize the existing Individual Drives / JBOD configuration and give me access to my two existing volumes and data without formatting, initializing, rebuilding, or changing the RAID configuration?

In other words:

Does the replacement WDBFBE0200JBK-00 read the RAID/JBOD configuration from the inserted drives themselves, or can the previous RAID 1 configuration of the replacement enclosure affect or overwrite the configuration of my incoming drives?

I understand that WD supports “RAID Roaming” between compatible My Book Duo enclosures and that the drives must remain in the same bay order.

However, I have not found a clear answer to this exact scenario:

Individual Drives/JBOD drives → identical WDBFBE0200JBK-00 enclosure previously used in RAID 1.

Because the two drives contain irreplaceable data, I need to be absolutely certain before connecting them.

I am NOT asking how to change the RAID mode. I specifically want to know whether simply installing my existing two JBOD drives into the identical replacement enclosure is safe and will preserve their existing configuration and data.

Thank you very much for providing a definitive answer based on WD’s hardware/firmware behavior.
