Best Firmware for playing mkv

Morning folks,

New to these boxes, bought  one of these last weekend. One of the first things I did was update the firmware to 2.08.13, rather stupid of me as it turns out, as it doesn’t appear to play mkv too well, just stutters along rather slowly. There also appear to be other issues with it having read through the 2.08.13 firmware thread

So basically just looking for suggestions as to the best firmware to downgrade to?

HI, much on the forum is to install the 2.4.13 because it seems the most stable until this.

Sorry for my bad english, im french

Understood fine so your English is not that bad. Thanks, I will give 2.4.13 a bash

At the moment can’t get the unit to see usb stick. I have 8gb stick formatted with fat32 and have renamed ver file to 2.09.10. Does it have be NTFS? Also it checks online

and How to

All sorted, back down to 2.04.13 Makes no difference tho mkv still judders along slowly

I just rollback to 2.07.17 that it ws the best for .mkv and I have not solve the issue of .mkv . I can’t play mkv files with DTS thoug the NAS wired, meanwwhile two months ago I can, I dont know what is the problem. Sorry for my english.

I’m using 2.07.17 since a while and that version plays all my MKV,MP4,AVI,MPG without any problem whatsover.

Both audio, video and subtitles (either in de MKV or separate .srt) work nicely.

You can download that FW here and put it on a USB stick:

The latest version 2.08.13 has quite a lot of new bugs unfortunately.

Do not download any ‘firmware’ from the link listed above. This page has GPL source code and will cripple your unit if installed.

If you wish to change firmware then use the link below.

Hi,

i have many problems with Firmware 2.07.17 mkvs hang , or status bar freeze. I think the “best” firmware for mkv is 2.04.13.
