Belkin N+ router and belkin USB Hub

Heya all.

a bit confused here.

Went and bought a new WDTV Live, to replace my first gen WDTV. i love the speed of the new one and the availability of networking.

and onto the problem.

i have connected the wdtv live to my belkin n+ router. i can access Youtube no problems. it can see my main laptop, but can’t access it as it requires a user name and password, which i have no idea what that would be.

So i thought i would start things in line.

the N+ router has a hard drive (from it’s USB port) attached to it, which i also can’t access. it also requires a username and password, which i have no idea of again.

The wdtv is connected to the router with a short cable, and the Hard drive is connected via its cable. my laptop can see the hard drive from explorer. so i know the hard drive works, just the wdtv can’t see it.

and then the Belkin Netwrok USB hub isn’t even seen by the WDTV. i can see the usb hub from my pc and also save files and move things around, so i know that works from the router to hub, and pc, but not from wdtv.

if anyone has ideas, apart from turning it off and on again, like the ever so helpful people at Belkin said… then i would be a very happy fella.

to recap. wdtv to router works. wdtv to internet works. wdtv to hard drive attached to router not working. wdtv to pc not working. wdtv to network usb hub not working.

i know lots of things missing here, but i think i need some assistance to get it tiptop.

cheers in advanced.

What’s a Belkin Network USB hub do?   USB Hubs are not supported by the WDTV.

the belkin network usb hub is a small box. it takes a netwok cable and has 5 usb ports on it. basically it allows you to use your portable hard drives as a NAS.

I Know this has been post in august but I am new here.

I had the same problem with XBMC and asked Belkin about it.

user : user

password:                (none)

Sorry for the error don’t use “user” this is what i received from belkin:“When you have done nothing special with permissions in the file system on the device, you should be able to use Guest as the user name (not case-sensitive) and leave the password blank. The workgroup is unimportant, you could enter anything or leave it on the default.”
