I was told by support that I have a bad drive. Is this accurate based on the sound and smart data? It sounds a lot like the ones I heard on YouTube. Want to verify before I actually RMA. The sound is a tap tap tap then brrrrrrttttttt sound on cold boot.

I suggest using Seatools and write zeros to the disk to be sure they media is fully refreshed. I use a top load USB box for SATA disks and this is trivial for cleaning up disks etc.
The SMART data shows no issues, and the drive is still new with only 112 hours of use. However, the strange tapping and buzzing sounds on boot suggest a mechanical problem. Even though SMART doesn’t show any errors, it’s best to return the drive (RMA) and back up any important data if you can.
I find at boot time my Orico 5-disk box the disks sometimes make audible noise. Still my box mutes noise pretty good.
I use CrystalDiskInfo to monitor disks and it seems to be adequate,
