Desidero questa informazione: una volta trasferiti i file nel My Cloud. è possibile eseguire un backup dei file su disco esterno, coillegato al MY Cloud attraverso la porta USB?

Yes one can backup the files on the My Cloud to a USB hard drive attached to the USB port of the My Cloud. A suggestion, take some time to read through the My Cloud User Manual (WD My Cloud Support) which explains the various features of the My Cloud.

Funziona perfettamente.
Puoi acquistare un HD normalissimo ed attaccarlo alla Usb; nel senso che non serve acquistare un HD di quelli che si possono anche collegare alla presa elettrica.
