I just bought a WDMYCLOUD and see that all my AVI (XVID) files that I initially played via USB at my Sony BDP s590, show up as MPEG format after I copied them to WDMYCLOUD. I found a setting using " http://wdmycloud:9000/#sharing" to switch the Blu Ray Disk Player detection to Sony AV Receiver. After that all files can be played again but that seem only to be a temporary setting. After a restart of the blu Ray player it is switch back to Sony disc player.
Anyone can tell me how to make this a fixed setting? Or how to tell WDMYCLOUD to send the files as they are.
I’m not sure but it sounds like the “streaming” option might copy and convert those files into a streamable file format and play it back to DLNA player.
good just not great.
do you have a workstation /computer you can use in your house to run a PLEX Media Server on point Plex Media Server to your media shares and get a client that can run Plex Home Theater ( the client ) like a $50 Roku box
Using Plex you can skip all that Twonky DLNA and your DLNA clients such as Smart TV and Smart Blu Ray
I think you’ll be much more satisfied.
Well, I don’t want to by another product each time I have an issue, so that is not a good option.
well DLNA **bleep**!
You’ll be fooling around constantly w/ different file formats, conversions, and incompatible containers and meta data.
PLEX Media Server is the solution and the 50 bucks for a small plex client is vastly cheaper then the hundreds of dollars you have already foolishly spent on your “smart” TV and antiquated disc player deck.
btw plex media server is good enough to serve up media to DLNA clients as best it can transcoding them for you during playback
best of luck!
