Android MyCloud app now wants access to my CONTACTS?

Just seen my Android MyCloud app wants to do an update, providing I allow it access to my CONTACTS?
I can’t imagine why WD would want access to my contacts for this thing to operate. Seems very dodgy to me.

Sorry WD, with the debacle unfolding around your dumping support for Windows Mobile users, the ongoing lists of failings in the MyCloud system on the forum here, then this crops up on the Android platform… For me you’re painting a very untrustworthy and unreliable picture I’m afraid.

Hi there,

I am mainly an iPhone user so i wouldn’t know if the previous versions of this app have the same request to access the contacts, i suppose this could be in order to share files from the app to other contacts on through email for example.
