Long story, but I got my adapters mixed up in office reorganization.

The likely adapter has these specs:

That is completely the wrong adapter … DO NOT plug it into the My Book (being DC and a lower than minimum required amperage … don’t be surprised if you smell something burning and see smoke)

The adapter you need is an AC Adapter 12V 1.5A

I’m Australia (so ignore the plug type) and have My Books, WD Elements, My Cloud etc and the WD supplied adaptor for all of them is “Ktec” Branded and they are all 12V 1.5A
