This is just to warn people not to be as stupid as me. I previously downgraded my firmware after the disastrous upgrade to v4. After the downgrade everything was running perfectly. I unticked the option for automatic firmware upgrades in the dahsboard and thought I was safe. How wrong I was:confounded:.
I am away from home a lot, so I rely on accessing my data using âWD My Cloudâ on ipad, Android phone and laptop. The mobile app on the phone and ipad recognises that the firmware is out of date and it prompts you to update it. Anyway I accidentally pressed the update button and (there was no âare you sure you want to do this?â) and off it went. There was no way to stop it. It seems pretty stupid that it should be possible to upgrade your firmware from a remote device, when the dashboard was set up to prevent this. Indeed, I believe one of the reasons that it not possible to access the dashboard remotely is for reasons of security.
I recognise this was my own stupid fault, but it was an easy mistake to make. Now I have to wait 10 days before I get back home and reverse the process. As it happens I can still access my shares, but my USB drive is not being recognised so I guess the safepoint backup will not succeed. Is there a way to remotely reboot the MyCloud device?
