4tb WD Elements External Drive No Longer Seen By Computer

Drive would power up fine but was not seen by explorer or disk management no matter what usb cord I used.

Since warranty period was over I removed drive from enclosure & put it in a docking station & disk management now sees it as (H:) but I can’t access the content (see attached jpeg)

Any suggestions?

Hello,

Windows will not be able to mount a RAW partition. I believe the partition is corrupted and you will have to format the drive in order to use it again. Formatting the drive will delete all data stored on it.
If you wish to recover data, I suggest you try using a data recovery software or contact a data recovery company.

I ran a recovery program (see attached)

Does the Elements “sata to usb board” encrypt the data?

If it does - Is that why the recovery program only found what it did?

Yes, the board often does apply hardware encryption. You can tell by examining the pcb and researching what chips are being used.
