I’m copying a folder from one location in my drive to another. 10 gigs is taking 15 minutes. The progress bar shows about 20MB/s, a far cry from USB 3.0 Speeds. Why is it so much faster to transfer from external to PC than within the same drive? Bizarre.

The transfer speed of the data depends on the data type you want to transfer for eg if the data is in clusters form so it will take time to transfer from one location to another and if the data is in archive form or in a single pack it will take lesser time as compared to the cluster data. However, if you are transferring the data within the drive partitions it will take time as compared to data transfer from external drive to a computer via 3.0 USB platforms.
