I am in the process of performing a full factory restore on my 4tb my cloud and so far it has taken 3.5 DAYS. The drive has a solid white light and the reformat counter keeps counting the time and resetting every 24 hours. Can anyone please tell me if this is normal compared to their experience and/or suggest what I should do? Thanks in advance…
Hi,
We don’t have an specific time for the unit to perform the restore. However, it shouldn’t take that long.
It’s not recommended to stop the unit while performing the factory restore as it may damage the device.
Before you try anything else, please contact WD Support for direct assistance.
WD Contact info:
I would like to add a very simple line that you “propeller heads” just ALWAYS forget.
WARNING make it flash in RED
WARNING…you will destroy all data…(fair enough)
WARNING…a factory restore this might take “Z” (hours) per/TB.
OPTIONS make it flash in blue
If you just wish to clean your WD MYCloud and start again this is for you.
If you want to just wipe your drive and start again use selection X
X will erase the data, and you can then set the drive up as if it was new.
SIMPLE
I sit here now with a 2TB drive Factory Restoring for god knows how long.
I will not pull the power, I will not mess up the RESTORE.
I will not get my backups done this weekend.
WHEN WILL YOU SO CALLED EXPERTS LEARN.
How did I get into this predicament.
I know IT inside almost out.
The online manual never sent me to the desktop questions for set up.
It sent me to set up accounts.
It bypassed all the stuff I wanted.
Have you seen how many users want just to reformat the drive.
They can not.
Bloody Propeller Heads.
Why don’t you ever make things simple??
Why they can not follow a simple recipe in a book of success in IT?
Because their heads are so far up their SSD’s they CAN see the sun shine.
