The internal hard drive within a WD external hard drive is not set. This means exact performance metrics can not be provided beyond a certain threshold. As such, there are no records related to benchmarks on WD’s Support Site and WD Support may not be able to provide the requested information.
Well that explains a couple of things.
The support wrote that I can reach 5Gb/s which is 625 MB/s. I guess it is insane to reach that speed on an external HDD.
So I guess 80 MB/s is ok for copying speed?
And there is really no way to know before purchase what kind of internal HDD is in the external?
I am asking this because I have 7 external WD HDDs and the last one happened to be incompatible with my Samsung TV.
How can I figure out whether I buy a new one it is going to be compatible or not?
Thanks!
Unfortunately, there is no way to tell. Additionally, only the WD My Book AV is designed to be supported on televisions. Other WD My Book units are optimized for computer use, which may affect compatibility with other devices.
OK, so I was lucky that the other 6 worked
Thanks.
