Try another USB cable and try on another computer. If you get the same results the drive is potentially damaged. You might want to check with support to see if they can provide any additional ideas:
I’m having the same issue.
When I start my Mac up, it says that I can copy and open files on the WD My Book Duo (16TB) but can’t write to it.
When I run the WD Drive Utilities it fails the Quick Drive Test and the Complete Drive Test with no options to fix it or anything.
What is the purpose of the “Diagnose” tab in WD Drive Utilities, just to tell you if it fails or not? Why isn’t there any additional information? What are we supposed to do now?
When I try and update the firmware (v1033 from v1030) on my drive, it says "Firmware update failed on specific drive. Please click Exit; then close all other open applications and then run the WD firmware updater again.
