What is it I’m doing wrong…? Thanks

better don’t try to upgrade. Mine was like that when i upgraded and although it manage to upgrade but give me many problem including never ending indexing.
Eventually i give up and revert back to os3.
Before upgrading to OS 5 one should really read through the OS 5 subforum to see the many issues people are having. From loss of features that OS3 has to the indexing tying up the unit making it inaccessible.
If one really wants to update they can try doing a manual update if they cannot update through the normal methods.

Echoing the above.
Leaving aside the “features” and “internet access”; from a sheer performance point of view - - I would NOT upgrade any “MyCloud” or “MyCloud Mirror” device to OS5.
The EX2 Ultra and “Pro” series devices seem to do ok (They have more ram and/or better processors).
**Note that the “Pro” unit will attempt to not only index but transcode. If you attempt transcoding (which is the default). . . expect performance akin to the MyCloud Mirror (i.e. it will take a few weeks; during which time your ability to use the device at all will be limited)
Dont upgrade. I did it the same way and my MyCloud is dead ![]()
Thank you for all the response. As suggested, I’ll wait until the upgrade looks a little more settled. Cheers
About 10 months ago, I would have agreed with the sentiment of “wait until the upgrade looks a little more settled”.
HOWEVER. . .the fundamental problem with the upgrad for the MyCloud Gen2 devices is the indexing process. This is required for any of the WD cloud/software apps. People have been complaining and gnashing teeth on the impacts of indexing on drive performance since the day of OS/5 release. Complaining bitterly. And there has been NO improvement in the indexing process.
Instead, OS/5 has been rolled out to older, less capable products that flat out can’t handle the processing requirements of indexing.
Just AVOID.
