Youtube Videos not loading

Hi, In the last week youtube videos have stopped working on my WD Live TV Firmware 2.03.20, the app opens fine and the videos show up but when I try and play one I get a message saying a network error has occurred check your connection and try again, this has only happened in the last week, working fine prior to this, have tried different networks and still the same error, the app works fine on my Samsung TV on the same network, any advice?

Hi there,

Does this happen with any other apps on the device or just youtube?

No, other apps are fine, just youtube won’t play videos, the youtube page opens up ok and displays the videos just won’t play when selected, like i said was working fine up to a week ago, also happens on my two other wdtv players.

Looks like it is working again, maybe something on YouTubes end

I had the same problem as you!

It appears that it was something with the included files known as Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) or similar included files, that get downloaded from the YouTube App.

In a ‘regular’ browser, then YOU type in the destination.

In a WD TV system, this is Auto-magically filled in for you.

SO, If EITHER TouTube, or, WDC change their background process or ‘match’, then it will make the software not match. and fail.

This can result in either a stuck page, or a “White Screen”, on your TV set.

Given the ‘depreciated’, nature of the WDC box, I am assuming then it is a matter of who is the bigger fish in this soup.

Perhaps Google, the Parent Owners of YouTube, have stopped buying WDC hardware to increase the amount of DASD storage available on the 'Net.

Maybe one of the competition have a better product, and offer more royalties to the media box manufacturer.

Try a Hard Reset (after writing down your paramaters).

WD have (so far) washed their hands of this product and claim that they no longer support YouTube “Leanback”, with the red logo.

Thanks for that information, something must of happened though because it is working again.
