Hello,
I have a problem with writing zeros to my WD HD.
First let me elaborate the problem.
Last week my WD elements desktop 1TB quit on me.
Strange thing is, windows gives a sound when I connect it to my laptop, I can also ‘safely remove’ the device, but I can not see of open the drive in ‘my computer’.
So far, I tried to put it directly in a pc with a Sata cable. Same thing as with normal USB operation. So that is not the problem. I tried to run diagnostics, it recognizes the disk, but I can’t run diagnostics because I get the ‘to many bad sectors’ failure. As a last resort I tried to write zero to the disk, fully aware this will ruin any change of data recovery. When I try this I get this failure: Sector #0-256::Write zeros error! Continue? When I press oke, I get the next one, the numbers will change to 256-512. I continued to press oke until 40.000 something. I am not going to do that for probably 1 099 511 627 776 bytes ……
Any advise?
