Won`t play files from usb device

Suddenly my WD tv live wont play files from my wd elements usb device. It acesses the disk and files with no problem, but it wont play the files. All that happens is the progress bar(circle) appears and just keeps going and going. I have tried rebooting the player, ejected and rebooted the disk, waited a long time, reset the player to factory defaults. After rebooting I may manage to play one file occasionally, but as long as stop a tries playing another file, it`s no go. Anybody had experience? Is there a trick or do I have to take it back for service?

Hi

I would think you ran into this problem. I tried the same the other day. Just a spinning circle, and I would have to reset the device to watch other videos. There is a work around, but I have not tried it yet.

Im having the same issue, i dont know why certain mkvs wont play, and after i try to play them i cannot watch anything else, the circle starts turning and nothing happens. I have to manually reset unplugging and pluging again so i can watch anything…

Are you reading that thread?  It contains the cause AND the answer to your problem.

(If you just don’t have the energy I’ll sum it up for you – remux the file using MKVMerge 4.0 or earlier).

same problem I haved… 2 hours earlier… I have 2 external HDD Samsung Story 1.5T, one at WD Tv-live on USB and one at my PC, USB port. I test the last from PC to WD and work corectly, so I have atached the first to PC and have run tools from control pannel with “fix issue” checked. Tools have find some issue and fixed. Now, my Story-1 is again to WD Tv-live on USB-1 (testeted on USB-2 too) and work perfectly with all media .avi or .mkv !!!

So try you too…

Hi,

I have the same problem.

Someone find a solution???

Thks

Welcome to the forums.

If you have the same problem why aren’t you trying the same solution as noted in this thread already?

Okay, for those of you reading challenged, here it is – don’t play “bad” files (those MKV files made with MKVMerge greater than 4.0.  Either delete them or fix them by remuxing with MKVMerge 4.0 or earlier.  If you have played a bad file, reset your unit.
