I am looking for a portable external hard drive. I would like to be able to see my files remotely without device. (Also will bring device on certain occasions) I would like it to back up my files wirelessly, if not through USB would work. I am using Windows 7.

you could use a My Passport wireless drive, but you can only see if when you have it connected to a local network, it does not work remotely. Other than this, the device will do what you are looking for.
