can you drag/drop files onto My Passport Portable External Hard Drive?

I have never owned an external hard drive but I’m considering buying one because I need more file storage space for MP3s , movies etc. I have used SD cards and prefer the ease and simplicity of simply having something where I can drag files onto it like that. I was looking at My Passport Portable External Hard Drive (model WDBYFT0040BBK-WESN) but it said it came with some software for backing up the computer and you’d have to access the drive with a security password. I don’t plan on ever taking the drive outside and just want to know if I could use the hard drive like a SD card and not bother installing or using any software with it? When you get the drive, could you just use it right out of the box by plugging it into a USB port and drag files to it?

Hello, iasqzhzb

Well, the My passport is a plug and play mass storage drive which is capable of storing data on it, you can use the diffrent method to transfer the data on the drive or you can also use any software to back up the computer on it.
