WDPHOTODBMERGER and WDMCSERVER

Hello all…

Like otheres, I am expereiencing nearly constant 100% CPU usage. My EX4 is only a few days old and I’ve transferred tons of photos and home video to it.

Setup with 4, 4tb WD RED (ordered fully loaded, raid 5)

Anyway… I’m trying to understand:

a) Is this normal? Will it die down eventually?

b) What exactly do these processes do? If I understood that then maybe I could make sense of it. Tried searching but no solid answers.

On top of that I am experiencing 10mb transfer speeds on my 1GB lan but I can almost live with that issue.

My real concern is the CPU utilization and the long-term effects.

Most likley the system is trying to create thumbnails of the phots that you copied over to the device.

In ideal situations, it should die down once the thumbnails are all taken care of.

Thanks for the reply. What I was hoping to hear. I think!

I’ll give it some time. Been about a day now - still pinning up in the hundreds with drop-offs down to 0 every few minutes.

I do have a lot of pictures -probably 250k so … maybe it’ll take a while. Seems like a long time though.

Still - would like to know exactly what these processes do. They both are taking 40-45% of the CPU load.
