bought a couple of these models 8TB white label off ebay as broken.
i ran the serials and they were listed as under warranty.
they are shucked tho apparently listed as externals. they dont work. with a molex power adapter they show model number but no smart data
wont respond to initialize commands. “not ready”
sent to RMA without the externals they replaced last one with one that has.
this other got rejected got offered to send them shipping label to get it back so here it sits.
doesnt work in the replacment (ext) controller and it was an EDAZ model.
also worth note symptoms identical both models.
so question for the experts is there features of this newer design that could cause some security shutdown etc? or special external controller requirement that previous models
do not satisfy?
any way to wake this thing up?
is there a firmware utility i can get from tech support i see they do not offer it publicly.
