WD40PURX vs. WD40PURZ

Is there a compatibility difference between the 2 that I need to worry about when adding to my NVR? The X is sold as old version and the z is sold as new version. So new is better right? :grinning:

If there is a WD30PURX in the NVR now and I’m adding a WD40PURZ, can a X drive interoperate with a Z drive?

Thanks for any help!

Hi NVRman,

I see that interface, form factor, RPM class and cache of both the drivers are exactly the same thus there should not be any issues.

James.G, thanks so much, appreciate the help. The more I thought about it, both versions had to work because there would be chaos in the market place if one SATA would work but another would not. But thanks for the technical confirmation which supersedes my layperson rationalization. :grinning:
