WD TV Live - dlna streaming

Hi,

I just bought a WD TV Live media player today to wirelessly stream my movies from my computer.  The setup has gone reasonably well and I’ve made sure I have the most recent firmware.  I have audio and video and I’ve successfully streamed some YouTube content.

My computer is a Windows 7 64 bit machine and I’m running KooRaRoo Media as my dlna software.  I can stream movies to my iPad no problem.  I have a shared photo folder on my computer and I can access it with my WD TV Live.  I can access my video folder too and see all the thumbnails of the movies but when I click on one, I just get the yellow spinning arrow but the movie never starts.  My movie library is in .mkv format but I’ve also tried .avi, .mov and .mpg files and get the same results.  Does anyone have any ideas what the problem might be??  Thanks for yor help!

Out of interest why are you using a media server. Why not access your files via network shares and cut out the server all together.

What WD Player do you have as this part of the forum is for the LIve Hub which has an integral hard drive.

Oops!  I posted in the wrong section.  Sorry about that…  I have the WD TV Live media player without the hard drive.

I never thought about using network shares.  I’m not sure how to set that up, though, so I’ll need to do a little looking around.  Do you know where I can find some information on that?

Ummm, maybe the MANUAL page 100?

Manual?  Who has time for that?

Actually I was more meaning setting up the sharing permissions and passwords on my PC.  I got it figured now and it’s working great.  Thanks for the suggestions.  I hadn’t thought of using Windows shares.
