My WD external 1TB storage book WAS randomly connecting and disconnecting without EVER showing up on my desktop. I looked up a few solutions and I still wasn’t SURE about what to do. I DID find a solution that helped me, and COULD possibly help anyone else with this problem. I’ve noticed that when the WD is NOT ejected, if you’re NOT using it then make sure that it’s “Ejected”…it started to feel a little bit TOO HOT to the touch. So, I unplugged it from it’s power and USB connection and let it cool down overnight. The next day I turned on the desktop totally booted up, I plugged in the power source for my WD, then I plugged in the USB connection and IT WORKED! I’d make sure that my WD is “Ejected” before and after I use the desktop, from now on. Hope this helps anyone else with the same problem. Have a good day!
