Hi, i just bought 14tb my book yesterday as back up for my other failing drives. when i just started my pc with hdd already connected, i notice theres a periodically noise like thumping sound, with vibration that is noticeable on my glass surface desk which i dont think its normal (i am a newbie on this stuff unfortunately) since i have never had this problem with my previous old 2 tb my book. the vibration followed by knocking sound is more noticeable when performing read/write. please i need any input whether this is normal or should i apply for replacement?
this is the sound produced when idle
and this is the sound while performing task with the drive
thank you for your kindly input in advance

Hi @bilnity,
Please refer to the article How To Tell If The Noise or Sound An Internal Drive Makes is Normal:
https://support-en.wd.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/16309/
A Western Digital hard drive makes a repeated clicking noise every 5 seconds

We also would like to recommend you use WD Drive Utilities software below to check the SMART status of the drive.
TESTING THE DRIVE:
Go to Software for Windows/Mac> select WD Drive utilities and click download
Follow these instructions to install the software;
https://support-en.wd.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/9871
Follow these instructions to run ALL TESTS (Drive Status Check, QUICK, and COMPLETE Drive Tests):
https://support-en.wd.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/13880
If the drive FAILS the test, shows SMART status as FAIL, or cannot be detected by the software, it needs to be replaced.
