No one cannot update the firmware on a first generation single bay My Cloud to use the v2.x or v5.x firmware used by the second generation single bay My Cloud. The second generation single bay My Cloud uses different hardware.
Firmware Release 04.05.00-342 (09/04/2019) is the current and latest firmware for the first gen single bay My Cloud.
The first gen single bay My Cloud status is: End of Updates.

May i ask if we can use quick view, back up and sync apps of wd after the end of updates? I do not care about phone app but for pc access
The first gen devices will be usable as local storage over your network. Any apps requiring remote access or an active connection to the WD servers will no longer function.
