I have setup AD authentication but it’s not working as it should. Always get the following message regardless of who’s trying to connect: samba authentication for user [nobody] has failed.
I’ve noticed that the permissions are assessed alphabetically which means that if I have a user in group A with permissions but that user is also in group B and group B has a default setting of “denied” then that user wouldn’t have access. That’s not the Microsoft behavior. Users can be part of multiple groups on a network.
So far I’m very dissapointed with the AD integration, very poor.
After lots of factory reset ect… it seems that I got passed the AD issue somehow. The problem now is that my credentials only work when using IP address and not host. I can see all the shares with both IP and hostname but can’t access secure shares via hostname.
